Delivering the highest level of care

We believe that, if you have a terminal or progressive illness, you should receive the highest level of care and support – giving you dignity and choice.

We provide care in the hospice, in the community and in our patients’ home. All care is centred around patient’s individual needs.

Inpatient Unit +

Our ten-bed unit offers a comforting and relaxed environment for patients.

Overlooking our gardens and beautiful courtyards, the light and spacious rooms offer privacy and calm. There are opportunities to access our day centre and wildlife garden for quiet reflection and contemplation. Please contact the unit for information regarding visiting. Family and friends, including pets are welcome to visit.

Patients come to us for many different reasons – for help with managing their symptoms, rehabilitation, assessment, respite care or to spend their final days here.

As a patient, you’ll be looked after by a caring, compassionate team of consultants, ward doctors, nurses, therapists, family support workers and volunteers.

If you would like further information, please call our patient advice line on 01722 425113.

Hospice at Home +

Our Hospice at Home service provides palliative care for patients who wish to be treated in their own homes. We also provide short-term crisis intervention, preventing any unnecessary admissions to an acute hospital, hospice or other care setting.

The care is primarily given overnight but also for short periods during the day.

Community Palliative Care Team +

Our community team provides an outreach service for patients, relatives, carers and professional colleagues. The team works closely with GPs, hospital teams and community workers to ensure the highest quality of care.

We can also provide advice on care needs, equipment, access to nursing support, future care planning and information on financial support.

Hospital Palliative Care Team +

Our team offers an outreach service to wards in the hospital, providing advice on symptom control and emotional support for patients during any hospital stays.

Members of the team also provide education and support to healthcare professionals involved in caring for people with life-limiting illness.

Peter Gillam Support Centre +

The centre offers a variety of creative therapy sessions including art, exercise, creative thinking, meditation and therapeutic horticulture. The centre also offers a 10 week ‘Living Well’ programme, which enables patients to explore common issues such as sleep, anxiety, pain management and planning for the future.  The Peter Gillam Support Centre gives patients and carers opportunity for social and professional support. Complementary therapy can be offered as part of the session or at a separate appointment.

The aim of the centre is to build confidence, enable and empower people to live as well as they can with their illness.
