From Flip-flops to wellies, Salisbury Summer Fair is expected to raise over £46K for Salisbury Hospice!

With our wellies, coats and sunglasses in our pockets, hundreds of dedicated supporters attended The Salisbury Summer Fair on Saturday 5th August. Held in the beautiful grounds of Wilton House Estate and opened by our new Charity Patron, The Countess of Pembroke, The Salisbury Summer Fair is expected to raise an incredible amount for Salisbury Hospice!

From rain to shine, Salisbury Summer Fair continues to impress each year, by coming back bigger and better than before. No weather can stop us now!

Featuring the old classics and introducing new elements such as the exciting Wellness Village known as The Retreat. The village provided the ultimate breath of fresh air for those seeking not only cover but rewarding workshops, well-being and self-care talks and much more!

Jumping higher than ever before, the Hobby Horse Derby was a surprise to us all, with children of all ages excited to take on the fun and rewarding mini horse jumps in the main arena. From jumping high to splashing around in the water, hundreds of families cheered on their rubber ducks in the inaugural duck race on the River Nadder at Wilton House Estate.

With live music, arena acts, dog show, a wide range of trading stalls, agricultural displays, as well as classic vehicles and steam engines. The Hospice Village, run by Salisbury Hospice staff itself and volunteers was a great success, providing the opportunity to learn more about the vital, end-of-life services the Hospice provides. Attendees participated in some of the therapies our patients experience such as pebble painting, horticultural therapy and craft activities, some even had a massage from one of Salisbury Hospice’s experienced complementary therapists.

Nothing shouts a “good traditional country show” louder than lots of cheering and laughter echoing across the field with muddy boots leading the way. With many activities, exhibitors and stallholders braving the elements all were delighted that themajority of the programme of events were able to continue as promised providing a great family day out for all ages.

Moyra Rowney, Events Fundraiser for Salisbury Hospice added
The day was extraordinary and in the truest British spirit, the challenging weather conditions added that little something extra to the event. We’d like to say a huge thank you to all the visitors who braved the elements; the kind permission of the Earl and Countess of Pembroke and the team at Wilton House Estate; to our traders and exhibitors for their support; the musicians and main arena acts who kept us entertained; all our sponsors, and particularly our headline sponsor, the Hendy Group; and finally, to our amazing volunteers who worked tirelessly on Friday, Saturday and Sunday – always smiling, always positive, always upbeat. Ours is a unique event with a warm, friendly, inclusive atmosphere and that is created by everyone involved. Thank you.
