One donation, twice the impact

We are pleased to be taking part in the Big Give Christmas Challenge again this year. Every penny raised will go towards supporting flexible hospice at home night time care. Salisbury Hospice is the only provider of specialist end of life night time care in Wiltshire.

Last year we raised £19,553.75 through the campaign and we hope to raise £30,000 this year so we can support more families at the time they need it the most.

Our Hospice at Home service provides crucial end of life care nursing for individuals wishing to live their final days in the comfort of their own home surrounded by family and all that is familiar. Help us ensure people can stay at home for their last Christmas.

The challenge begins at midday on the 29th November ‘Giving Tuesday’ and there will be 7 days to submit a donation.  Every donation made to our campaign from 29^th November – 6th December will be doubled.

Why donate?

In 2016 thanks to the support of our local community, we were able to launch our Hospice at Home Service, allowing our patients the choice to remain in their own home, surrounded by all that is comforting and familiar at the end of their lives. Unfortunately this does not always happen due to lack of specialist support at home, many patients are admitted to hospital unavoidably. If this service did not exist many patients would need admitting to acute hospital or hospice beds without meeting their preferred place of death creating added psychological distress for patients and their families.

The demand for this service has increased vastly following the pandemic which has stretched care services to the limit, the country is in a healthcare crisis. We need your help to relieve pressure on care services and ensure we can continue to provide patients a choice and dignity in dying.

This Christmas we kindly ask you to make a donation to our Big Give Christmas Challenge. Your donation will be doubled and will have twice the impact on the wellbeing of our patients.

How it works

We have been lucky to secure pledges from several regular donors to match your donations. However we will only receive these pledges if you donate. For every pound you donate another £1 will be added to the fundraising pot, giving you an extra reason to give!

Each year we support 200 patients and their families at home

• £25 will pay for travel costs for a nurse on a Hospice at Home visit
• £50 will pay towards specialised supplies to ensure the comfort of a patient overnight
• £128 will give a full night of essential Hospice at Home nursing care
• £500 will pay to train a specialist night time carer
