On Sunday 10th September Hospice Supported gathered in Salisbury City Centre to take part in the second Celebration Walk organised by Salisbury Hospice Charity. Walking together with fellow members of the community, celebrating life and cherishing memories of loved ones.
Walkers participated in a five or ten mile walk, which started and finished at The Guildhall in Salisbury. As registrations opened, walkers in aqua blue Celebration Walk t-shirts flurried in and the afternoon included a wonderful performance from The Salisbury Pluckers, a ukulele band. Followed by talks from Paula Flower, Head of Fundraising. a cherished memory from Nikki Spicer, Trustee of Salisbury Hospice Charity and blessing from Kelvin Inglis, Rector of St. Thomas’s Church.
Alex from Kidz Love Fit joined us this year to engage the walkers in a warm up fun dance routine, to stretch the muscles ready for the walk which was thoroughly enjoyed by all, before Adam Burgess, Regional Director of our sponsor Apogee Corporation said the famous words, Three, Two, One, Go!
As the walkers began their journey around Salisbury City Centre, they were welcomed into St Thomas’s church to light a candle of remembrance. At the Hospice, walkers were invited to tie a ribbon of their choosing, around the representative Remembrance Tree. At the finish line walkers received their living medal, a packet of Forget Me Knot Seeds.
The funds raised from the Celebration Walk will enable the Hospice to continue providing the vital, end of life care, which directly benefit patients and families within the community.
